Hurricane High School Wins 2015 West Virginia State Championship

Drew Sallada and Bailey Gordon hauled in a five bass limit to the Sutton Lake Scales that tipped in at 9.12lbs to win the West Virginia High School State Championship Saturday.

They edged out Will Sigmon and Zack Moore of Herbert Hoover High School who were one fish short of a limit but still amassed 7.41lbs to take the runner up spot. Rounding out the top three teams was the duo of Alex Goff and Zach Horrocks who had a limit of bass that weighed 6.21lbs.

Sallada and Gordon will represent the State of West Virginia at the Central Conference Regional Championship at Lake Carlyle Illinois in September with a chance to advance on to the High School National Championship next spring.

All of the teams competing in Saturday’s event are also invited to register and fish in the High School Fishing World Finals the Week of July 7th -11th at Pickwick reservoir in Florence Alabama. This event is open to all SAF members across the country to attend.
