Mt Ida pair win HS National Championship

Hunter Davis and Tyler Allen brand won the first year of a new format in the High School National Championship. New for 2017 the HS National Championship is now being held in conjunction with and concurrent with the largest most diverse high school championship event in the nation, the 2017 High School Fishing World Finals.

After three day combined weights were tallied the Arkansas pair caught 53-06 out of Pickwick lake and topped the day 2 leaders of Cal Culpepper and Mason Wadell who were representing Georgia’s Harris county High School.

While a team that is always near the top Jake Kimbrough and Hunter Nanney from North Mississippi Student Anglers finished third with 50-11ounces.

For their win David and Tyler earned national championship trophies and titles as well as each angler will receive  a $5000 scholarship to the school of choice from FLW.  The second place team of Cullpepper and Wadell also will receive a $5000 scholarship each to the school of their choice from TBF.

The top 10 finalists from the national Championship all advanced to Saturdays final round of the High School Fishing World Finals to compete for their share of the record payout of over 170,000 in scholarships and prizes.  For more details on the wining pattern check out our partners page at FLW fishing here.
